Still on the family road trip on the way to Colorado ... Some weird sartorial happenings in the Showlow Dairy Queen, and outrageous prices at the lodge!
17 July 1977
Finally we left the gross rest stop. We ate breakfast in Phoenix, and lunch at Dairy Queen in Showlow. I couldn't believe those kids in there: purple miniskirt and sneakers, hot orange and pink miniskirt, that girl's glasses and haircut! And the little boy in a suit with a three-foot long skinny tie (reminded me of Dennis the Menace). What a crack-up!
We finally got there and spent a million years looking for cabins. Finally we stayed in the lodge. Their TV only got NBC - the worst channel! Their dinner - $6.50 - was outrageous! So we went down to the other inn and there a hamburger was $2.25 but I had to wait an hour! It was OK though cause they got CBS. So I saw Phyllis. Then Switch came on and I thought, oh no, but it was good. Couldn't see the end though cause Dad came.
